Jamie Lee Curtis Thinks the #MeToo Movement 'Would Have Really Upset' Her Mom Janet Leigh

Jamie Lee Curtis is talking about Harvey Weinstein and the #MeToo movement.

In a new interview, the 62-year-old Halloween Kills actress shared her thoughts on how she thinks her late mom Janet Leigh would have reacted to the movement, saying that she thinks the whole situation “would have really upset” her mom.

“I don’t think Janet would have ever acknowledged if there was any bad behavior,” Jamie said while speaking to Melanie Griffith in the latest edition of Interview magazine.

“She was, it’s a bad term, but kind of Pollyannaish about the industry. I think the #MeToo movement would have really upset her, Jamie continued. “It’s not fair to unpack that, because she’s dead and I’m going to put words in her mouth, but knowing her, I think she would not say that he misbehaved in any way.”

Janet died in 2004 at the age of 77, years before the #MeToo movement began.

Melanie pointed out how her mom, Tippi Hedren, went public with her allegations of director Alfred Hitchcock‘s intense sexual harassment.

If you didn’t know, both Tippi and Janet both worked with Hitchcock – Tippi starred in 1963′s The Birds and 1964′s Marnie while Janet starred in 1960′s Psycho.

Melanie then pointed out that when Tippi spoke out about Hitchcock, times were different and her complaints were “not accepted at that time. She was shunned and he made sure that she was shunned.”

Jamie, however, doesn’t think Janet would have reacted the same way.

“I don’t think Janet would ever have acknowledged anything, because from her standpoint, she was just grateful,” Jamie explained. “That was very much her take. I think she would have looked at it as, ‘That was just the way it was.’”
