The Weeknd‘s concert was scheduled to start at 9pm and after sharing a clip from his upcoming HBO Max series The Idol, he came out on stage around 9:17pm.

By 9:30pm and after performing only four songs, The Weeknd stopped the show to announce to the audience that he lost his voice.

“I don’t know what just happened…but I just lost my voice, this is killing me I don’t want to stop the show but I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now,” The Weeknd said on stage, according to Variety. “I’m gonna make sure everybody’s good — you’ll get your money back — I’ll do a show real soon for you guys. But I wanted to come out and personally apologize.”

“You know how much this kills me, I’m sorry. I love you thank you so much,” he continued before exiting the stage.

A little while later, The Weeknd took to Twitter to apologize again to his fans.

“My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated. Felt it go and my heart dropped,” The Weeknd wrote. “My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.”

The Weeknd is next scheduled to perform in Toronto on September 23.
