Lena Dunham Says Her Marriage Changed Her Movie 'Catherine Called Birdy'

Lena Dunham is celebrating the release of her new Prime Video movie Catherine Called Birdy, which is now streaming!

The 36-year-old actress and director stepped out for a VIP screening and festival celebrating the movie on Friday night (October 7) at The Grove in Los Angeles.

The outdoor cinema-style screening featured an immersive festival inspired by the film’s medieval English village of Stonebridge. She was joined by executive producer Michael P. Cohen.

In a recent interview, Lena explained how her marriage to musician Luis Felber changed the course of her movie.

“It’s funny, I got engaged literally two weeks after we wrapped the movie,” Lena told Yahoo Entertainment. “And I’d spent a few years making this movie about the oppressive nature of marriage!”

She added, “That very romantic monologue that Andrew Scott delivers to his wife as she’s in childbirth. That very much came after I’d met my husband, and I was like, ‘Maybe being married wouldn’t all be suffering and pain! Maybe there’d be some really nice stuff too.’”

Lena has been facing backlash for comments she made last week.
