Mitch McConnell Video Goes Viral, Aide Explains Why He Stopped Speaking & Stared Off

A video of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is going viral over a moment that happened while he was speaking.

The 81-year-old politician stopped speaking mid-sentence during a press conference and did not resume speaking. There is concern for his health.

“We’ve had good bipartisan cooperation and a string of —” McConnell said, before completely stopping what he was saying.

He then stood for about 20 seconds and continued staring straight in front of him.

He was flanked by other Senators, including John Barrasso and Joni Ernst. Barrasso could be heard saying, “Do you want to say anything else to the press?” Barrasso then said, “I’ll take him back.”

The Washington Post quotes an aide who explained the situation, saying, “He felt lightheaded and stepped away for a moment. He came back to handle Q and A.”

This has not been the first time there has been concern for his health.
