Lizzo Faces Lawsuit From 3 Dancers, Accused of Sexual Harassment & Hostile Work Environment

Lizzo is facing a new lawsuit.

The suit comes from three tour dancers who claim that they dealt with sexual harassment and a hostile work environment, including being pressured to touch nude dancers during a live sex show, via a complaint filed Tuesday (August 1) in court in Los Angeles, according to Billboard.

Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez accuse Lizzo and her BIG Grrrl Big Touring Inc. of various things, including racial and religious discrimination.

At one point, the lawsuit claims that Lizzo pressured the dancers to attend a sex show in the Red Light District in Amsterdam and then pressured them to engage with the performers.

“Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas,” the lawsuit claims.

“Lizzo then turned her attention to Ms. Davis and began pressuring Ms. Davis to touch the breasts of one of the nude women performing at the club.”

The lawsuit also claims that the captain of Lizzo’s dance team forced her religious beliefs on the plaintiffs and made them uncomfortable, including commenting about their virginity and simulating oral sex on a banana.

The lawsuit also claims that Lizzo “called attention” to a dancer’s weight gain after a performance at South by Southwest, and while the team “never explicitly stated it,” they allegedly gave the impression that Arianna Davis “needed to explain her weight gain and disclose intimate personal details about her life in order to keep her job.”

The dancers’ attorney Ron Zambrano called attention to those allegations about weight gain: “The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing.”

“Plaintiffs were aghast with how little regard Lizzo showed for the bodily autonomy of her employees and those around her, especially in the presence of many people whom she employed,” the suit says.

Arianna and Crystal began performing with Lizzo after they participated on Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, the dance competition show hosted by Lizzo in 2021. Crystal alleges that in April, she spoke up in a meeting where Lizzo accused dancers of drinking before performances, leading to a tense back-and-forth. A day before, Lizzo allegedly told the dancers they would have to audition again, leading to an “excruciating” 12-hour rehearsal in which Arianna soiled her pants because she was too fearful of losing her job to use the bathroom, via The Guardian.

Lizzo and her team have not yet responded to the allegations.
