Avengers: Endgame is officially dominating on a historic level.

The Marvel superhero film pushed past the $2 billion mark in its second week in movie theaters, Variety confirmed on Sunday (May 5).

Endgame crushed the record for the fastest film to reach that mark, and is now only one of five movies to ever do so. Avatar previously held the record after meeting the $2 million mark after 47 days.

The other movies to do so are Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War.

It’s also now the second-highest grossing movie of all time.

Avengers: Endgame is expected to cross a huge box office milestone this weekend!

On Friday (May 3), the superhero film hit a global box office of $1.915 billion, meaning it is likely to cross the $2 billion mark in ticket sales on Saturday.

With its Friday North American earnings of $40.6 million, Avengers: Endgame has crossed $500 million in domestic ticket sales, making it the 9th Disney film to do so.

Avengers: Endgame raked in an estimated $1.2 billion in its first weekend, becoming the first film in history to surpass the $1 billion mark in its opening weekend.

Avengers: Endgame is big – and making tons of cinematic history!

The highly anticipated Marvel superhero film raked in an estimated $1.2 billion in its first weekend, becoming the first film in history to surpass the $1 billion mark in its opening weekend, the studio announced on Sunday (April 28).

It also hit the billion mark in just five days. Comparatively, Avengers: Infinity War hit the billion mark at 11 days.

“We poured our heart and soul into Avengers: Endgame, hoping to tell a story that would inspire audiences around the world. Our family of cast and crew felt honored to be entrusted with bringing the Infinity Saga to a close. To Kevin Feige, everyone at Disney and Marvel, and the incredible, global community of fans – thank you,” said directors Anthony and Joe Russo in a statement.

Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans flash a smile in their suits while attending the special fan event for their film Avengers: Endgame on Thursday (April 18) in Shanghai, China.

The co-stars were joined at the event by their other cast mates Paul Rudd and Jeremy Renner, the film’s co-directors, brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, as well as producer Kevin Feige.
