Gina Rodriguez dons a cute two piece swim suit while walking on the beach with a friend in Maui, Hawaii earlier this week.
The 34-year-old Jane the Virgin actress took a little “me” time after attending the 2019 Maui Film Festival last week, where she was honored with the Navigator Award.
Just recently, Gina opened up in a new interview with NBC’s Kate Snow at The Kennedy Forum about how she stopped ignoring her mental health.
She revealed that she physically had to stop acting during the final season of filming Jane to work on her anxiety and depression.
“There was a point where I couldn’t…push through every single time anymore, and I’m one of those human beings…where they’re just like, I’ll handle it later. I’ll deal with it later. I’ll figure it out later,” she explained. “I just have to do this now. All the while you’re dealing with your silent little dragon in your head.”
Gina continues, “It came to a point, and this last season was the first season where I had to stop production. I had a really tumultuous season, and I was unafraid for the first time to be like, ‘I can’t.’”
Later on, she revealed that mental health will always be part of her platform.
“It has to be a part of the conversations I have with these young girls. I can’t just tell them to go out and make their dreams come true and then to ignore everything else.”
