The 42-year-old actor was joined by his wife Jennifer Garner and their oldest daughter Violet, 9, as well as Microsoft co-founder and fellow philanthropist Bill Gates.

Ben testified on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs, particularly about the importance of the United States providing foreign aid to African countries.

Jennifer Garner and her adorable daughter Violet, 9, cheer on the Los Angeles Clippers while sitting courtside at the game at the Staples Center on Monday (January 19) in Los Angeles.

The 42-year-old actress, who was joined by a pal of Violet‘s as well, watched as the Clippers beat the Boston Celtics 102-93.

The 41-year-old actress’ movie Dallas Buyers Club made it onto the list of seven films that remain in competition in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for the 2014 Academy Awards.

The other six films are American Hustle, The Great Gatsby, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, and Lone Ranger.

Next month, members of the Academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will view 10-minute excerpts from each of the seven shortlisted films. After the screenings, they will vote to nominate three films for final Oscar consideration.
