Legendary writer and director George A. Romero has passed away from a “brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer,” on Sunday (July 16), the Los Angeles Times has confirmed.
His wife Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero were by his side.
Often referred to as the Father of Zombie films, George is responsible for some of the most memorable zombie films including Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead.
Celebrities have been paying tribute since the sad news was confirmed.
Sad to hear my favorite collaborator–and good old friend–George Romero has died. George, there will never be another like you.
