'Batman v Superman' Breaks Records With $170.1 Million Debut
The highly-anticipated film Batman v Superman debuted to a whopping $170.1 million over the Easter holiday weekend!
According to THR, the superhero flick, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, landed the biggest Easter weekend ever and the No. 6 opening of all time in North America.
It also made history globally, becoming the biggest superhero opening of all time with $424.1 million, including $254 million internationally.
Coming in second was Disney’s animated flick Zootopia, which grossed $23.1 million for a domestic total so far of $240.5 million.
Taking the No. 3 spot was the sequel My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, starring Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, and Elena Kampouris, which earned an impressive $18.1 million.
Rounding out the top five were Jennifer Garner‘s Miracles From Heaven and The Divergent Series: Allegiant – Part 1, which tied for fourth place at $9.5 million.
Meanwhile, My Name is Doris, starring Sally Field and Max Greenfield, expanded to 488 screens and placed No. 9 with $1.7 million.
