'Surface' Actor Eddie Hassell Dies at 30 After Being Shot During Apparent Carjacking

Eddie Hassell, an actor best known for his work on the NBC series Surface, has died at the young age of 30.

Hassell‘s rep confirmed to TMZ that he was shot and killed on early Sunday morning (November 1) in what appeared to be a carjacking. The incident happened somewhere in Texas and his team is still trying to find out more info.

Eddie played the role of Phil Nance in Surface and he also appeared on Devious Maids as Eddie Suarez. You might also recognize him from his movies The Kids Are All Right, Jobs, and Family Weekend.

In addition to acting, Eddie loved surfing and skateboarding. He told Elle, “Skateboarding’s been a huge part of my life, it also got me cast in commercials. I was into horseback riding and rodeos in Texas and when I moved to L.A., I got into skating. I did all my own stunts. I’m into anything with a board: surfing, wakeboarding.”
