Former President Barack Obama Cuts Guest List for His 475-Person Birthday Party Amid Coronavirus Delta Surge
Former President Barack Obama is celebrating his 60th birthday this weekend and he was supposed to have a massive, 475-person birthday party on Martha’s Vineyard.
Now, the party is being significantly scaled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and specifically, the Delta variant that is surging across the United States.

“This outdoor event was planned months ago in accordance with all public health guidelines and with covid safeguards in place,” his spokesperson told CNN. “Due to the new spread of the delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends.”
She added that “President Obama is appreciative of others sending their birthday wishes from afar and looks forward to seeing people soon.”
Rumored attendees included George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, director Steven Spielberg and Pearl Jam, who was going to perform.
