Evan Peters Slammed By the Mother of a Jeffrey Dahmer Victim Following Win at Golden Globes 2023

Evan Peters‘ win at the 2023 Golden Globes wasn’t unanimously popular.

The 35-year-old actor won the award for Best Actor – Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture after playing infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Netflix’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story during the awards show on Tuesday (January 10).

In the aftermath, Shirley Hughes, the mother of one of the serial killer’s victims, slammed the show and the acclaim it’s received.

“There’s a lot of sick people around the world, and people winning acting roles from playing killers keeps the obsession going and this makes sick people thrive on the fame,” Shirly told TMZ.

She continued, “It’s a shame that people can take our tragedy and make money. The victims never saw a cent. We go through these emotions every day.”

The outlet noted that Shirly believed Evan should have used the platform at the awards show to denounce Hollywood’s habit of telling true crime stories that turn the killers into famous faces.

Her son Tony Hughes was killed by Jeffrey in 1991.
