HBO Shows Could Start Appearing On Netflix, Other Shows in Discussion

Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly in talks to license HBO shows to Netflix.

Several titles are under consideration, including Issa Rae‘s comedy, Insecure, which aired from 2016 to 2021.

The deal would be a non-exclusive deal, as the shows would still be expected to stream on their own services such as Max, according to Deadline.

In the past, HBO has had other licensing deals. Edited-for-TV versions of Sex and City were licensed to TBS and The Sopranos to A&E. More recently in 2014, Amazon Prime Video exclusively streamed shows such as True Blood and The Wire.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has made a strategic shift in being open to licensing the HBO library beyond its own existing platforms. He was previously CEO and president of Discovery before it was merged with WarnerMedia.

HBO and Max have just cancelled 3 TV shows and announced 2 fan favorites are ending.
