Rebecca Romijn Explains Her Hesitancy to Speak Out Regarding 'X-Men' Directors Bryan Singer & Brett Ratner

Rebecca Romijn is addressing her time working with two controversial directors from her time with the X-Men.

The 50-year-old actress brought the shape-shifter Mystique to life in the first trio of X-Men movies.

During that time she worked with directors Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner, both of whom have since been accused of sexual misconduct. Bryan also faces allegations of unprofessional behavior on set.

During a recent interview, Rebecca opened up about the two men, explaining why she had previously remained largely silent in regards to the allegations.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Rebecca explained that she “didn’t feel like I needed to say anything” as allegations piled up.

“I know the two people that I worked with had it coming, and they got theirs,” she continued. “I’m not gonna… I don’t need to say anything else.”

Regarding Bryan, Rebecca acknowledged his skills as a filmmaker.

“It was amazing watching him work. And you have to decide if you want to try and separate those two things,” she explained. “There was drama on set, and I witnessed it and I heard a lot about it. And he sometimes didn’t come in prepared. But he would show up and, without any preparation whatsoever, direct the most awesome scene that he was able to put together because he’s such a good filmmaker.”

She added that some of her former co-stars did speak to him about his behavior.

By the sounds of it, Rebecca was not as fond of her experience with Brett.

“But he’s been cancelled,” she told the outlet. “I haven’t spoken up about anything with regard to #MeToo, because I had two major issues with two directors I’ve worked with — and both of them already got theirs, one of them being Brett Ratner.”

It is unclear who the second director she is referring to is.

In the same interview, Rebecca revealed a role that she would “never be cast” to play in 2023.
