Katherine Heigl to 'Marie Claire UK': I Felt Betrayed By My Career

Katherine Heigl stuns on the cover of Marie Claire UK magazine’s August 2014 issue.

Here’s what the 35-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On feeling betrayed by her career: “The thing that was my best friend for a long time, [my career], suddenly turned on me and I didn’t expect it. I was taken by surprise and angry at it for betraying me. I had a moment where, I don’t know, I was thinking, ‘Maybe open a knitting store, get my money out of retirement accounts and live off that, live off the land.’ I had my moment where it all seemed so complicated and all I wanted to do was simplify.”

On making too many rom coms: “I had an amazing time. I love romantic comedies. But maybe I hit it a little too hard. I couldn’t say no. I stopped challenging myself. It became a bit by rote and, as a creative person, that can wear you down.”

On her next phase: “There’s a part of me that’s a Hollywood animal as well. I can’t wait to get into the writer’s room and see how we do this. I feel like I’m finally rolling into the next phase of my adulthood.”

Funny how she can’t or won’t place blame where it belongs. She is at fault for her faltering career. Her horrible attitude and diva antics is the one and only reason why she is no longer an in demand actress. This article proves how truly delusional she is.

  • lol

Oh please boo hoo..Your ego got out of control. She thought she could get away a diva and talking negatively about Grey’s Anatomy and Seth Rogan and then she realized whatever IT girl status she had could disappear in a flash. There is always the next girl wonder…before Hollywood ditches you to move on to that one.

  • Nikki

It was her attitude (among other things) that ruined her career.
There was a whole article about that at a news website.
The 5 mistakes KH made that killed her career…or something like that.
    She’s a diva & a biotch to work with. That’s why Grey’s canned her.
She thought she was better than everyone, including Sofia Vergara.

  • sillyme

I usually like romantic comedies, but I didn’t like any of her movies. She just wasn’t funny and didn’t have chemistry with any of her leads. The worst was the movie with Gerard Butler. Gah!! She was cute in Greys Anatomy, though. Should have stayed with that. Some people just aren’t made for the big screen.

It was actually called “10 Ways Katherine Heigl Destroyed Her Own Career.” Google it. That’s a fun read. If you’re an actor, then it’s very educational. It tells you what NOT to do.

  • Old News

she keeps putting her mouth in it…
but i don’t think she and her mom should be condemned for being argumentative and self-protective in negotiations, but more for making stupid career decisions…
one of the problems is that she’s horribly shrill and lacks charisma as a leading lady…
she would have been better in Grey’s, where she was in an ensemble cast…
also her interviews are just red alarms for any casting agent…who’s gonna hire an actor who turns around and craps all over a movie in which they were the lead? what about dvd sales? and criticising the writers and withdrawing herself from the emmys? who does that? that stuff was the real poison. being demanding on set usually isn’t that fatal.

  • Old News

@Nikki: greys didn’t can her; she left by herself and left a huge trail of negative publicity about how the writers didn’t respect her character. and then she went on tv and basically begged to be let back when her film career didn’t take off. the lead actress laughed/cackled at the suggestion on chelsea handler’s show.

Like many posters have stated, Katherine’s ego along with a string of movie bombs killed her Hollywood A-list status movie career.
Too bad she can’t or won’t accept the fact that she is responsible for her own downfall.

What is bad about making rom coms? Sure, some of them are dumb, more romantic than funny, but I like romantic comedies, while being anti-romantic person, because simply comedies have a tendency to use too much of toilet humor, romantic comedies keep their class more often. And she made really good ones.
