Joseph Fiennes Comments on Playing Michael Jackson After Casting Backlash

Joseph Fiennes is opening up about playing Michael Jackson in an upcoming comedy taking place right after the September 11, 2001 attacks.

“I have played Michael Jackson. That is true,” the 45-year-old actor said. “It’s a tongue in cheek fun light look at three wonderful characters that we know, Michael Jackson, Liz Taylor, and Marlon Brando and they go on a road trip together. Some say it’s an urban legend. And our story says if it happened, maybe it happened like this.”

There has been an immense backlash to the casting news, as Michael Jackson is a legendary black singer, but casting went to a white male. Michael had a skin condition called Vitiligo that caused a lightening of the color of his skin.

Michael had vitiligo but he also bleached his skin.

I think it’s an excellent choice, he has a square face like MJ and is a very good actor.

Well MJ was not black so i don’t really see the problem. He was only born black, but he hated being black so he transformed himself into a white person. Vitiligo does not change your whole body color from black to white. He went to bleaching procedures to get his skin pale white and he also did his nose to look like a white person, he hated his wide black nose.

Who on God’s Earth would want to portray this freak? Seriously.

You are one, along with me, who has ever cared to say this, but you are spot on. He also didn’t think he could attract youngsters -especially white ones- being black. If you look at some of his early photos, he was a good-looking young man, but really screwed himself up in his attempt to achieve his objectives.
