Jessica Chastain Explains Why She Can't Watch 'The Tree of Life'

Jessica Chastain is opening up about the reason she has trouble watching one of her earlier films, The Tree of Life.

The 39-year-old Miss Slone actress recently revealed that The Tree of Life – which she starred in alongside Brad Pitt back in 2011 – is one of her most passionate projects to date.

“I haven’t been able to watch it since it came out because it’s so emotional for me,” Jessica told Huffington Post about the Terrence Malick-directed flick. “I was playing a character who was the embodiment of love, so every day was just filled with so much joy. I was meditating on expanding my heart space and living with an open heart. Of course it affects you and how you treat other people. I’m heartsick for it.”

Jessica also shared that she has not seen Terrence‘s documentary Voyage of Time, which uses footage from The Tree of Life.

“From the very beginning, Terry had said Voyage of Time was supposed to come out at the same time as Tree of Life, so we were all prepared for that movie,” Jessica added. “I’ve been shooting in Santa Fe and I haven’t had an opportunity to see that movie, but Tree of Life is one of my favorite films. It was the high point of my life.”
