Nicole Kidman Makes $500,000 Donation to Australia Wildfire Relief, Her Home Is Under Threat

Nicole Kidman is lending her support to those fighting the wildfires in her native Australia.

The 52-year-old actress took to Instagram on Saturday (January 4) to announce that she, husband Keith Urban, and their family have pledged $500,000 to assist the local fire services that are battling on the frontlines in Australia.

“Our family’s support, thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia,” Nicole wrote.” We are donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are all doing and giving so much right now.”

The country is dealing with devastating bushfires right now and up to 23 people have died so far during the crisis, which has been going on since September.

12.35 million acres of land have burned and more than 1,500 homes have been destroyed so far.

Before her announcement, Nicole was on her way to the Gold Meets Golden event when she found out that her home in Australia is under threat of fire.

“I’m distracted right now with everything happening in Australia,” Nicole said to press via Page Six as she arrived at the event.

UPDATE: This post has been updated to reflected to that Nicole and Keith‘s home is only under threat of fire. It has not burned down, as has been reported.
