Man Dies, Wife in Critical Care After Ingesting Drug They Thought Donald Trump Touted as a Coronavirus Treatment

A man is dead and his wife is in critical condition after they ingested the drug chloroquine phosphate, reportedly to prevent themselves from getting coronavirus.

Donald Trump touted a drug, which is usually used to treat malaria, during a recent press conference. He said that it has potential to become an important drug in the fight against coronavirus, though the FDA has said that drug is not yet approved for coronavirus.

The husband and wife, who are both in their 60s, had to seek emergency medical care within half an hour of using the substance. The couple used chloroquine phosphate, an additive used in fish tanks, reportedly thinking it was the drug that Trump talked about.

“I saw it sitting on the back shelf and thought, ‘hey, isn’t that the stuff they’re talking about on TV?’” the wife told NBC News. “We were afraid of getting sick.”

“HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine. The FDA has moved mountains – Thank You! Hopefully they will BOTH (H works better with A, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents)…..” Trump tweeted on March 21.

People have reportedly been buying up so much of the drug that scientists haven’t been able to find enough of it to test if it really works, according to Raw Story.

Lost actor Daniel Dae Kim, who tested positive for coronavirus, actually revealed that he used hydroxychloroquine to treat his symptoms and it was his “secret weapon.”

It is important to note that no one should be self-medicating without talking to a doctor.
