Elton John's Ex-Wife Renate Blauel Is Taking Legal Action Against Him

Elton John‘s ex-wife Renate Blauel is going to court in a new case against him.

Blauel has filed legal action to seek an injunction against John, though it’s not immediately clear why she has done this. Billboard reports that “such cases are typically grounded in privacy matters or to prevent the publication of personal materials.”

Elton and Renate got married in 1984 after they became close during the recording of his album Too Low for Zero. She worked as a sound engineer on the record. They ended up getting divorced four years later and he later came out as gay.

While Renate has maintained a low profile over the years, their marriage was featured in the 2019 movie Rocketman, which was a musical about Elton‘s life.

Elton also wrote about the marriage in his 2019 memoir “Me.”

“It was the right thing to do, but it was a horrible feeling,” Elton wrote about ending the marriage. “I’d broken the heart of someone I loved and who loved me unconditionally, someone I couldn’t fault in any way. She could have taken me to the cleaners, and I wouldn’t have blamed her: everything that had gone wrong was down to me and me alone. But Renate was too dignified and too decent for that.”
