The Bourne Legacy Won't Feature Matt Damon or Jason Bourne

The Bourne series will continue, but without its star Matt Damon, and without the main character Jason Bourne.

The Bourne Legacy‘s screenwriter Tony Gilroy has said that this film will be a new chapter to the series featuring a different hero. “This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing Matt Damon… this is a stand-alone project,” he said.

While Jason Bourne will not be featured in the film, his presence will be there. Tony continued, ” [he] will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens… the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return [down the road].”
