Crisis' Halston Sage: Just Jared Spotlight Shoot (Exclusive!)

JJ: You were born and raised in LA, but you didn’t start acting til 2011? Why then?

HS: That’s a good question. Growing up in LA, you’re surrounded by this business and at the time, I was really frustrated because I knew that this was what I always wanted to do. It was really important to my parents that it was something I was passionate about, not something that I felt forced into. Once I turned 16, I just kept saying this is what I want to do. I’m going to pay for my own acting lessons, this is, you know, my dream. So I started taking classes outside of high school, I was still in regular high school and I met my agent when I was actually five, which is crazy. He had always been kind of like this light in my life, kind of this hope. Finally when I was 16, I got to call him up and be like, “I’m ready to start auditioning!” And off I went.

JJ: Who is Glamma?

HS: (laughs) How do you know Glamma?! That’s hilarious! Glamma, that is so funny, Tracey [Cunningham] told you that, didn’t she? My grandma is so glamorous, and so fun, she could have a talk show. She’s super young. I’m really close with my family. So my hairdresser, Tracey Cunningham, all of us girls in my family go to her. My mom, my grandma, my sister. So it’s kind of the running joke that my grandma is this glamorous movie star that she’s really not, but we like to think she is.

JJ: Have you taken her to any premieres or anything like that?

HS: I haven’t yet. There hasn’t been the right moment, but we talk about it all the time. Even my grandpa, he always jokes that he’s practicing his walk for the red carpet. One of these premieres, I promise him, the next one he’s coming.
