Lupita Nyong'o Finally Talks About Her 'Star Wars' Character
Lupita Nyong’o heads to the theater for a performance in her off-Broadway play Eclipsed on Saturday afternoon (November 14) in New York City.
The 32-year-old actress stars in the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens and her character was finally revealed, though she was right in front of us the entire time.
Lupita‘s character Maz Kanata is an alien wearing a large pair of glasses and she is featured on the poster along with the rest of the cast.
“I had some specific ideas about how she would work and what she would do,” director J.J. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. “I had this pitch about these goggles that she wore. Her eyes are an important aspect of her character, and you’ll see how it plays out.”
“As an actor for films, your eyes are a lot of the way you communicate anyway,” Lupita added. “So it was definitely a gift to have that be the means to her magic as a motion-capture character.”
