Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron!

Oscar Isaac explains in the new issue of GQ that before signing on to movie, he was originally told that his character Poe Dameron would die after a TIE fighter crash in the beginning of the film.

“I went back home [to New York], and I thought about it,” Oscar said. “Then I wrote [Abrams] and said, ‘Okay. I’ll do it!’ I figured it would be a cameo: I’ll come in, do my thing, and maybe it’s actually better not to have to sign myself up for three movies.”

Director JJ Abrams then replied to the email and said, “Never mind. I’ve figured it out. You’re in the whole movie now.”
