The first promo for Kanye West‘s audition for American Idol has just hit the web, courtesy of his wife Kim Kardashian West!

“My name is Kanye. I’m from the south side of Chicago. I’m originally a producer,” Kanye told judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban in the promo. “I always wanted to rap and no one really believed in me, so I wanted to try some things out, you know?”

“Kanye just walked in the room, that’s all I can tell you! That’s all I know. For a minute, I was like, ‘Is that Kanye?’…Even though I’ve seen him a million times, in that setting I just didn’t expect it�”but it was really funny,” Jennifer previously told E! News about Kanye‘s surprise audition!
