Mariah Carey to Receive Ally Award at GLAAD Media Awards 2016

Mariah Carey steps out of her car to a swarm of fans on Wednesday (April 20) in Paris, France.

The superstar singer just received some amazing news. Mariah will be honored with the Ally Award at next month’s 2016 GLAAD Media Awards in New York City.

Director Lee Daniels will present Mariah with the award at the ceremony, set to take place on May 14.

“Through her music and outspoken support, Mariah Carey has inspired and empowered countless LGBT fans across the globe,” GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement (via Billboard). “She is a longtime ally and friend to the LGBT community who has worked tirelessly to move acceptance and inclusion forward.”
