O.J. Simpson Granted Parole for 2008 Prison Sentence

O.J. Simpson has been granted parole today after being convicted in 2008 of kidnapping, armed robbery and 10 other charges.

All four parole commissioners voted to free the 70-year-old former athlete. OJ will not be getting out until October at the earliest.

During the parole hearing, O.J. testified, as well as one of his daughters and some of his friends.

He served nine years in prison and was considered a low risk offender, which is why he was given parole. The parole board specifically said at the beginning of the hearing that they would not bring his acquitted murder charges from the 90s into account when thinking about his parole.
