Kanye West May Have to Battle in Court to Expand His 'Yeezy' Brand

Kanye West might need to lawyer up to expand his Yeezy brand.

The 40-year-old Yeezus rapper was not fast enough to file trademark paperwork for items beyond footwear, and was beat out by a Chinese company according to TMZ.

While Kanye owns Yeezy footwear, his company abandoned the trademark for other clothing items in 2017. A company named Fujian Baby Network Technology Co. then filed paperwork for the term “Yeezy Boost” for their own clothing products.

When Kanye‘s company tried to refile their application for Yeezy brand clothing, the trademark office denied the application because the Chinese company now owns the rights to items beyond footwear.

Therefore, Kanye may have to battle it out in court if he’d like Yeezy to expand beyond his sneakers.
