Margot Robbie is giving an update on her upcoming flick Birds of Prey!
The 28-year-old Oscar-nominated actress shared some new scoop on the Suicide Squad spinoff movie where she’ll be reprising her role as Harley Quinn – calling the new movie an “R-rated girl gang film.”

“She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang,” Margot – who is also producing the movie – told Collider. “I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it.”
The film focuses on a group of female heroes and villains, and Margot made sure the girl power was front in center behind the camera as well – with Cathy Yan directing and Christina Hodson writing the screenplay.
“And then of course having a female director to tell that story,” Margot continued. “And giving a female director the chance to do big budget stuff. They always get ‘Here’s the tiny little film’… I was like, ‘I love action. I love action films. I’m a girl. What, are we meant to only like a specific thing’?”
Birds of Prey is set to begin production in January.
