Jussie Smollett Assault Case to Go to Grand Jury (Report)

Jussie Smollett‘s assault investigation will be heard in a grand jury early next week, TMZ reported on Sunday (February 17).

The two brothers who were arrested and then released in possible connection to the case remain in the Chicago area.

CNN reported that police believe the actor paid two men to orchestrate the attack, which Jussie‘s legal team vigorously denied in a statement.

“As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with. He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying,” they wrote.
