Lena Headey Admits She Wanted a Better Demise for Cersei on 'Game of Thrones'

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Lena Headey is opening up about her character’s demise on Game of Thrones.

During a recent interview, the 45-year-old actress, who played Cersei Lannister, admitted that she was “wanted a better death” for her character.

“I invested as a viewer and I have my favorite characters. And I’ve got a few of my own gripes,” Lena told The Guardian. “But I haven’t sat down drunkly with [showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] yet…I will say I wanted a better death.”

In the episode before the series finale, Cersei and her brother-lover Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) were crushed to death underneath the Red Keep in King’s Landing.

“Obviously you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted,” she added. “But I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.”
