Officials Make Request of Public in Kobe Bryant Helicopter Crash Investigation
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department held another press conference after the deaths of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and the 7 other people on board the helicopter that crashed on Sunday (January 26) in Calabasas, Calif.
The press conference told us a few things we did not know about the situation.
There was not a black box on board the helicopter and that model of helicopter did not require a black box. There was an iPad on board to check flight itineraries, weather conditions and other pertinent information.
The National Transportation Safety Board is also making a request of the public. They’re looking for anyone with “photos of the weather in the area of the crash. If you have photos that can help…in the area of the crash.” They’re asking for the photos to be sent to witness.ntsb.gov to help them assess if weather was a contributing factor to the crash.
They are looking into all conditions, “man, machine, and the environment,” as to what may have contributed to this crash.
In addition, officials indicated that they’ve created a perimeter around the crash site to prevent anyone from entering the area.
We’ve recently discovered the heartbreaking reason Kobe Bryant and his family started using helicopters more frequently.
Efforts continue into the investigation of the tragic helicopter crash from yesterday. At today’s press conference, @NTSB_Newsroom Board Member Jennifer Homendy asked for the public’s help in locating witnesses, video, and/ or photos of the incident. pic.twitter.com/UZFFAkYAbx
