Shania Twain Says Ending Up With Husband Frederic Thiebaud Was 'Beautifully Twisted'

Shania Twain is speaking out about the events that resulted in her falling in love with and marrying her husband Frederic Thiebaud.

The 54-year-old “You’re Still the One” singer and her first husband with whom she shares a son, Robert John Lange, split in 2008 after 14 years of marriage.

Frederic was the one who told Shania that her husband and his wife – her assistant and close friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud – were having an affair.

In a cover interview for AARP the Magazine‘s February/March 2020 issue, Shania said, “It’s twisted. But so beautifully twisted.”

Shania leaned on Frederic Thiebaud for support at the time, and they got married in 2011.

“There were days I didn’t really care if tomorrow came,” she continued, adding, “Survival is everything. I was in quicksand. I panicked, like everybody does, but I didn’t surrender. I found a way out.”

“Sometimes I get overwhelmed coping with things, but experience also teaches you how to manage,” she shared while also discussing her Lyme disease diagnosis. “When you get older, you have so much experience at falling and getting up. You’re not going to stop falling. But you will get better at getting up and brushing yourself off. I believe that. I’ve lived it.”
