The Farewell's Zhao Shuzhen Wins at Spirit Awards 2020, But She's Stuck in China Due to Coronavirus

The Farewell director Lulu Wang appears on stage to accept an award on behalf of Zhao Shuzhen at the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon (February 8) at the pier in Santa Monica, Calif.

Zhao won the award for Best Supporting Female for her work in the movie, but she was unable to attend the event as she’s stuck in China because of the coronavirus.

The other nominees in the category were Hustlers‘ Jennifer Lopez, Waves‘ Taylor Russell, Give Me Liberty‘s Lauren “Lolo” Spencer, and Luce‘s Octavia Spencer.
