Drive-In Movie Theaters See Bump in Business After Traditional Movie Theaters Close During Health Crisis

Drive-In Movie Theaters are having a resurgence right now during the coronavirus outbreak.

According to reports via Deadline and the Los Angeles Times, the theaters are seeing a bump in business because most other traditional movie theaters have closed during the crisis.

Many are heading to the drive-in to enjoy a movie out at the theater and they can, because of how a vehicle is considered its’ own space.

This limits interactions with others and is one of the safest social distancing ways to see other people, all while enjoying a movie.

Deadline says that earlier this week, two of the last remaining drive-ins in California – the Paramount Drive-in California and the Sacramento 6 Drive-in – made over $1,000 at the box office.

There aren’t many Drive-Ins left, however, as most shuttered with the introduction of closed in movie theaters.
