Ryan Seacrest Reveals How 'American Idol' Producers Shocked Him with Season Finale Details

The American Idol producers threw a big curveball at host Ryan Seacrest during his preparations for the season finale this weekend!

The 46-year-old television personality revealed the surprising thing he learned while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night (May 20) in Los Angeles.

When Jimmy pointed out that the finale on Sunday night will be three-hours long, Ryan said he only just learned this news.

“I just realized that I saw the press release the other day and it said it’s from 8 to 11 and I did not know that. It used to be, when I was you know, when I started out they would check with you. You know they’d say, ‘hey are you available’ or ‘just so you know, it’s going to be a two-hour special or a three-hour extravaganza.’ Now they just announce it,” Ryan said.

If you didn’t know, Ryan flies back to New York right after Idol‘s taping every Sunday night so he can do Live! with Kelly and Ryan on Monday morning.

Now, Ryan says he’ll be getting one less hour of sleep because of the longer finale.
