'Dawson's Creek' Writer Heidi Ferrer Dies by Suicide After Year-Long Battle with COVID-19

Heidi Ferrer, a writer on Dawson’s Creek, has sadly died. She was 50-years-old.

Heidi‘s husband, Nick Guthe, took her Girl to Mom blog on Tuesday, June 1 to announce that his wife had died by suicide after a 13-month long battle with coronavirus.

“This is Heidi’s husband, Nick, passing along the tragic news that we lost our beautiful Angel due to Long Haul Covid, May 26th, 2021,” Nick wrote. “The excruciating physical pain and inability to sleep from the pain led Heidi to the decision she would rather leave this world on her own terms before her condition worsened more.”

Heidi and Nick share 13-year-old son Brexon.

Nick then went on to detail Heidi‘s intense battle with COVID.

“Over 13 months it took every part of her life away: Her mobility, her enjoyment of food as she had to eat a very restrictive diet, and, in the end, her ability to sleep and even to read books and enjoy them,” Nick wrote.

In lieu of flowers, Nick shared a link where readers could donate to the Infantile Scoliosis Outreach Project, which helped save their son Bexon’s “spine and continues to train doctors around the world and provide casting tables for underdeveloped countries.”

Our thoughts are with Heidi’s loved ones during this difficult time.

We’ve sadly lost a lot of stars so far this year.
