Mena Suvari Talks About the 'Weird' Experience She Had with Kevin Spacey on 'American Beauty' Set

Mena Suvari is looking back at her time filming the Oscar-winning movie American Beauty and she’s opening up about the “weird and unusual” encounter she had with lead actor Kevin Spacey.

The 42-year-old actress says she “thought of that day” when several men made sex abuse claims against Spacey back in 2018.

Mena talked to People this week and said that even though she “trusted him” on set, there was an unusual experience with Kevin.

For those who don’t know, Mena played teenage cheerleader Angela, who was the object of obsession for Kevin‘s character.

While they were preparing for a scene, Mena says Kevin took her into a side room where they “lay on the bed very close to one another. He was sort of gently holding me. It was very peaceful but weird and unusual.”

Mena discussed the claims against Kevin and said, “My heart goes out to anyone who suffers abuse.”

Mena is releasing a new memoir and she revealed she was sexually abused as a child.
