Lorde Says Trying To Replicate 'Royals' Success With New Music is a 'Lost Cause'

Lorde is opening up about her first major hit “Royals” and why she’s not expecting any of her upcoming, new music to have that big of an impact.

In her new interview with The New York Times, the 24-year-old singer revealed that she’s not aiming or trying to replicate the success of the song.

Lorde, who just dropped her latest single called “Solar Power”, told the paper that replicating the success of “Royals” isn’t in her plans.

“What a lost cause,” she said. “Can you imagine? I’m under no illusion. That was a moonshot.”

The song, which was inspired by a photo Lorde had seen of Kansas City Royals’ George Brett, lit the Billboard charts on fire and stayed there on the number one spot for over 8 weeks in 2013.

In the same interview, Lorde opened up about working on her music with Jack Antonoff, and blasted rumors the two were romantically involved.
