John Wes Townley Dead - Former NASCAR Driver Killed at 31 in Georgia Shooting
John Wes Townley has been killed.
The former NASCAR driver was killed during a shooting on Saturday (October 2) in Athens, Georgia, the Athens Banner-Herald reports. He was 31-years-old.

John was killed during a shooting that police believe was related to domestic violence.
An unidentified 30-year-old woman was seriously injured in the shooting and was subsequently hospitalized.
As of right now, it’s unclear if John and the woman had any sort of relationship.
A 32-year-old man, who knew John, is suspected to be in connection with the deadly shooting. He has not yet been charged.
John competed in over 70 NASCAR races from 2008 to 2016, before he retired from professionally racing in 2017.
