Jonathan Scott & Zooey Deschanel Took a Huge Step in Their Relationship: They Bought a House Together!

Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel bought a house together and they’re so excited to finally move in and “see the kids grow up laughing and adventuring in the yard.”

The 43-year-old HGTV star and 41-year-old actress bought the house in May of 2020, but pandemic and construction delays have caused some turmoil! They hope to move in soon.

In his magazine, Drew + Jonathan Reveal, Jonathan wrote, “Eight months into our relationship, I already knew Zooey was the yin to my yang, the PB to my J. We were on parallel paths toward the happiness we’d been seeking our whole lives. Zooey and I met for the first time in 2019, shooting that most romantic of television shows: Carpool Karaoke. I obviously knew about her, but the on-screen experience isn’t the same thing as in real life. From the first moment she walked over to say hello, she had a bounce in her step and an energy about her that made me immediately take notice.”

About finding the dream home, he said, “As we pulled up the drive, it just seemed…magical. It sat on a little over an acre, and with its lush lawn and massive California sycamores, it looked like a park. Which is why when we first brought the kids by the property, they dubbed it the Park House. And you know what happens when you name something, whether it’s a mangy stray dog or a beautiful home of your dreams? You keep it. The next thing you know, Zooey and I owned the Park House.”

About the delays in construction, “Literally everyone on the planet who was building or renovating anything over the last two years is experiencing delays. Even in normal times, people get frustrated and suspect they’re being scammed by a contractor. But when you’re doing a major reno, you always, always, always find hidden problems. You just hope they don’t cost a lot of time and money. But, of course, they did, and that’s OK. We have each other, and we have time—the rest of our lives together in this house. Our house. Our dream home, where we’ll see the kids grow up laughing and adventuring in the yard, where we’ll play host to friends and family.”

Zooey has two kids, Charlie Wolf, 4, and daughter, Elsie Otter, 5, with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik.
