Jada Pinkett Smith Puts Positive Spin on Battle with Hair Loss, Says 'Me and This Alopecia Are Going to Be Friends'

Jada Pinkett Smith is getting candid about her battle with alopecia.

In a new Instagram video, the 50-year-old actress and Red Table Talk host opened up about her battle with the autoimmune disorder, which attacks hair follicles and causes hair loss and bald spots, while putting a positive spin on her battle.

“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something😜,” Jada captioned a video while showing off her bald spots. “Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!😆”

In the video, Jada says, “Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that.”

“So it just showed up like that and this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide,” she continued. “So I thought I’d just share it so y’all are not asking any questions.”

Jada previously opened up about her battle with hair loss back in 2018, admitting that at first, she was very scared about it about, but learned to embrace it.

“Even in my fear…I really had to put it into a spiritual perspective, like the higher power takes so much from people,” Jada said at the time. “People are out here with cancer. People have sick children. I watch the higher power take things every day…When I looked at it from the perspective it really did settle me.”
