Regina King's Son Ian Alexander, Jr. Dies By Suicide
Regina King has revealed that her son, Ian Alexander, Jr., has sadly died by suicide, days after his 26th birthday.
The 51-year-old actress and director, and her family, have released a statement on the matter.
“Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian,” Regina shared in a statement to People. “He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”
Regina shared Ian with her ex-husband, Ian Alexander, Sr., a record producer.
In a previous interview, Regina opened up about her son, whom she called “an amazing young man.”
“You don’t know what unconditional love is. You may say you do, but if you don’t have a child, you don’t know what that is,” she explained at the time. “When you experience it, it’s the most fulfilling [thing] ever.”
Just days ago, Ian had promoted an upcoming concert on Instagram that was set to take place at the end of the month.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Regina and her family during this time.
