Maren Morris Gets 'Wicked' Callback After Auditioning for Broadway Musical, Kristin Chenoweth Reacts!

Maren Morris is one step closer to making her Broadway dreams come true!

The 32-year-old country singer has revealed that she has received a callback after sending in a self-tape audition for the musical Wicked.

Back in May, Maren tweeted to her fans, “Gonna send an audition tape in for Wicked on Broadway. What the hell. Let’s see what happens. 💚 🧙🏼‍♀️.” She later added, “I identify heavily as an Elphaba but good god her songs are high.”

A few weeks later, Maren publicly shared a clip of herself singing Elphaba’s song “The Wizard and I.”

Maren took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday (August 11) and shared, “I got a callback for Wicked. I am in tears. What the hell.”

Later in the day, Maren posted a video of herself chatting about the callback.

“Ya’ll, I literally don’t even care — yes I do — if I go beyond this callback. Because this is like, 14-year-old Maren’s getting to achieve something that was never in reach, like it just never felt possible. So, thank you for being on this journey with me. We will see where it goes. I’m just really happy. I love Wicked. I love Elphaba. I love Kristin Chenoweth. Thank you, Kristin, for inspiring me to just buck up and just send the self-tape in. I don’t know what to say,” she said.

Kristin Chenoweth, who was the original Glinda in Wicked, tweeted, “You go baby!! Told ya you could do it!!! xoxooxo.”

Maren replied, “Stop my heart is going to explode. 💀💚.”
