Who Is Taylor Swift's 'Would've, Could've, Should've' About? Swifties Think They Have It All Figured Out & We Have Tweets To Prove It!
Swifties think they know the person who inspired Taylor Swift‘s “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” on the deluxe edition of her new album Midnights.
The 32-year-old “Shake It Off” hitmaker unleashed a surprise edition of her new album with seven extra songs shortly after the standard edition arrived. Fans have picked over the lyrics of every song on Midnights (3am Edition), and they believe that “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” is about John Mayer.
In case you forgot, Taylor and John were linked back in 2009, and it’s a commonly held belief that 2010′s “Dear John” is about their rumored time together.

Looking at the lyrics to “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve,” some Swifties are convinced that it picks up where “Dear John” left off.
“Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first,” Taylor sings on the track. “And I damn sure would’ve never danced with the devil / At 19, and the God’s honest truth is that the pain was heaven/ And now that I’m grown, I’m scared of ghosts.”
Although the singer hasn’t confirmed anything, fans are putting things together and coming to a conclusion of their own.
They believe that the track is about John, and that it’s placement as the 19th song on the tracklist is a reference to the age she was when they were reportedly together.
While we’re here, you might also be interested in knowing how Midnights is projected to perform in its first week of release. If you weren’t aware, the album already broke a major record.
Also, someone who was directly referenced on the album has already spoken out.
Check out some of their tweets from Swifties about “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” below.
Taylor Swift putting a John Mayer song at #19 – the age she was when he dated her – in the tracklist on the album she released at 32 – the age he was when he dated her – is exactly the kind of long term petty I love.

The song "would've,could've,should've" specifically refers to "I damned sure never would've danced with the devil at 19"–Taylor was 19 when she dated John Mayer. She & Jake didn't meet & date til Fall of 2010 just months til her 21st birthday.
