Elton John Reacts to Britney Spears Collab 'Hold Me Closer' Being Chosen In Landslide Victory for Favorite Song of 2022 Title

Elton John and Britney Spears‘ “Hold Me Closer” was selected as the favorite song of the year by fans, and the music legend is reacting to the happy news.

Elton and Britney joined forces on the track – a remix of his “Tiny Dancer” and “The One” – back in August. The pair made history on the Billboard Hot 100 when it debuted at the No. 6 spot.

Months later, Billboard readers voted en masse to label the song their favorite, with “Hold Me Closer” receiving almost 45% of the vote. Elton hopped on social media to share his reaction.

“An enormous thank you to [Billboard], it’s readers and all the fans of ‘Hold Me Closer’ who voted it their favourite song of 2022,” he gushed on Instagram alongside a pic of him and Britney from his Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party back in 2013.

He continued, “And thank you [Britney Spears] for your talent and collaboration in making this happen and the incredible [Watt, the song's producer] who shares this success! What an incredible way to kick off the year.”

The singer signed off with the rocket and rose emojis, which became the duo’s signature while promoting the track.

Britney‘s husband Sam Asghari joined in the celebration in the comments section, posting two goat emojis to represent Greatest of All Time.

In late 2022, Elton teased the possibility of collaborating with Britney again in the future. However, he’d want to do things differently on a second duet.
