“As brother Dave Henry (who took this photograph) notes here, Anthony was a complex character; and god knows: we tangled in moments, as true brothers can. But I loved him, and understood him better than I was sometimes willing to let on…farewell, then, brother Anthony. I want to think the god your blessed mother (and mine) believed in has her there, waiting to receive you,” he continued. “At least for today, no one shall dissuade me from this vision.”

Anthony reportedly lived under a bridge in Michigan for several years while homeless, and had recently been to rehab amid struggles with alcoholism. He reconnected with his family in recent years, via Page Six.

Madonna, who is usually very active on social media, has not posted in several days.

Madonna is one of eight children, including Anthony, Martin, Paula, Christopher, Melanie, Jennifer and Mario Ciccone. Their mother, Madonna Ciccone, died due to breast cancer at age 33 in 1963.
