Aubrey Plaza Insider Reveals Why She Looked Upset, Mouthed 'Jesus Christ' On Stage at SAG Awards 2023

Fans were concerned for Aubrey Plaza when she didn’t look pleased on stage during The White Lotus‘ win at the 2023 SAG Awards over the weekend.

If you didn’t see, season two of The White Lotus won the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

While the acceptance speech was happening, the cast was gathered together. Aubrey looked agitated or upset, and appeared to mouth the words “Jesus Christ” at one point after F. Murray Abraham spoke on behalf of the cast.

Both Page Six and the Daily Mail are reporting that at one point while the acceptance speech was happening, it appeared as if her co-star, Jon Gries, pointed out something about her outfit. Aubrey could be quickly seen adjusting her outfit while on camera.

“There were a couple of different things going on in that moment,” an insider said. “First, she was told that her boob was hanging out which would cause any woman to be uncomfortable.”

When F. Murray said, “prayer out to the earthquake victims of Syria and Turkey and a prayer for peace to Ukraine and Russia,” it appeared as if Aubrey mouthed “Jesus Christ.”

A source clarified that at that moment, as the cast began cheering and hugging, she was almost elbowed in the face and that is why she said “Jesus Christ.” You can see a video of the moment on Twitter.

“Aubrey is extremely expressive, and she is also very sarcastic,” the insider added. “She is very proud of her work on White Lotus.”
