'The Flash' Director Andy Muschietti to Direct New Batman Movie 'The Brave and the Bold'

Andy Muschietti has landed his next role in the DC Universe!

On Friday (June 14) it was announced that Andy – the director of the new The Flash movie – has signed on to direct the upcoming Batman spinoff movie titled Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

The upcoming movie will be based on the comic book series by Grant Morrison, which imagines “a ‘Bat family,’ where Bruce Wayne’s biological son Damian serves as Robin to his dad’s Batman,” according to Variety.

While Andy will be directing the movie, his sister and creative partner Barbara Muschietti will be serving as one of the producers.

The upcoming project will mark the first live-action film to feature the appearance of Robin since Chris O’Donnell played the role opposite George Clooney as Batman in the 1997 film Batman and Robin.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold will exist separately from Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman movies.

As of right now, no casting announcements have been made for Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

In a recent interview, Andy addressed the possibility of controversial star Ezra Miller returning to play The Flash if the movie got a sequel.

The Flash is out in theaters now.
